The History

Primarily grown in Peru, the southwestern United States, and Australia, Pima Cotton belongs to the Gossypium barbadense species—distinct from standard upland cotton (Gossypium hirsutum). This makes it significantly softer, more durable, and more absorbent.

The name “Pima” originates from the Pima Native American tribe, who first cultivated this cotton in the United States, although its historical roots trace back to Peru, where the fiber has been prized for centuries.
